Frequently asked questions

What is a webhook?

A webhook is an HTTP callback: a service automatically calls your URL on an event (e.g. Stripe on payments, GitHub on pushes). You get realtime data instead of polling.

How do I test webhooks without a server?

Create an endpoint in the Webhook Tester — you get a URL (provider.tools/webhook/catch/TOKEN). All requests land there live: headers, body, query parameters. No own server needed.

How long are requests stored?

Anonymous endpoints: up to 7 days and capped request count. Logged-in users: permanent in the account with a full request log. Every request is individually inspectable.

Can I simulate webhook responses?

Yes — you configure status code, response body and delay per endpoint. This lets you test how the sending service reacts to errors (500), timeouts or delays.

Are my webhook data public?

No. Each endpoint has a random, unguessable URL - only those who know it can send or read requests.

How long are requests stored?

Without an account, requests are deleted after a short time. With an account, they are kept permanently.

Does the tester support HTTPS?

Yes - all endpoints run exclusively via HTTPS.
