Inspecting Requests

Detailed guide on analyzing captured HTTP requests — headers, body, query parameters, and metadata.

01

Request Overview

Click on any request in the left panel to see its full details. The detail view is split into:

Header Bar

Shows at a glance:

  • HTTP Method — Color-coded badge (GET=green, POST=blue, PUT=amber, DELETE=red, etc.)
  • Full URL — The complete request URL including query parameters
  • Timestamp — When the request was received
  • Body Size — Size of the request body in bytes
  • Source IP — The IP address of the sender
  • Content-Type — The MIME type of the request body
  • Request ID — Unique identifier for reference
02

Headers Tab

The Headers tab displays all HTTP headers sent with the request as key-value pairs. Common headers you'll see:

  • content-type — The MIME type (e.g., application/json, application/x-www-form-urlencoded)
  • user-agent — The client software making the request
  • authorization — Authentication tokens or API keys
  • x-webhook-signature — HMAC signature for webhook verification
  • x-forwarded-for — Original client IP (behind proxy)

All header values are selectable for easy copying.

03

Body Tab

The Body tab shows the raw request body content. Features:

  • JSON Formatting: If the content-type is JSON, the body is automatically pretty-printed with proper indentation.
  • Syntax Highlighting: Dark-themed code block with monospace font for easy reading.
  • Copy Button: One-click copy of the raw body content.
  • Size Limit: Bodies up to 1 MB are stored. Larger payloads are truncated.

Note: GET and HEAD requests typically don't have a body. The tab will show "No body content" for these methods.

04

Query Parameters Tab

The Query tab displays parsed URL query parameters. For example, a request to:

https://provider.tools/webhooks/abc123?event=payment&status=success&id=12345

Will show:

eventpayment
statussuccess
id12345

This is especially useful for GET-based webhook callbacks that pass data via URL parameters.
